This edition is all about AI. I decided to share my POV on how I use it day to day and where I’m headed with it.

No buzzwords, no hidden agenda: Just a little insight into how I am using these tools, and maybe if I share with you, you’ll be inspired to share with me.

I hope you find it helpful.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
⚙️ After Diving In Deeply, Here’s A Crash-Course On Using AI In Your Day-To-Day Marketing Needs. Grades Included.

I use AI. You use AI.  We all use AI, and we all use it for similar purposes.  I find that the more I use it, the more I understand what it's good at, as well as what it’s not good at.  To that end, I decided to pull together a little recap and analysis of how I use some of the premium tools, both what works and what doesn’t, and maybe provide you with a little inspiration or guidance on how, when, and where you can use them for your own needs.

First off, it has to be stated that, across the board, I find these tools supremely valuable, but I don’t see them replacing anyone I work with.  What they do enable is exponential efficiency across all aspects of marketing.  At a very high operational level, I see the following areas of marketing for B2B Marketers:

  • PR and Communications

  • Content Creation

  • Email and Newsletters

  • Social Media

  • Paid Media

  • Creative & Design

  • Demand Generation

  • Partner/Channel Marketing

To strategize, manage, and execute in these areas, I have explored the following:

ChatGPT, Claude (Anthropic), Microsoft CoPilot, Google Gemini, Lovable, Promo, Gamma, Figma, Adobe, Sintra, Marblism, SmashingLogos, Perplexity, NotebookLM, Synthesia, Higgsfield, Grammarly, Sora.

By no means is this an all-encompassing list.  Along the way, I have tested and tried out dozens of other platforms, but none of them rose to the level of the tools I gave more than an hour of attention to.  IMHO, I should be capable of seeing the value for a tool in the first hour, and that hour will determine if I give it a longer look.  To be honest, I am probably being generous by giving them an hour.  Most people rely solely on a first impression or a reference from someone else to pay attention, but call me curious.  I spend a lot of time trying things out.

So now for the punchline.

ChatGPT - good at writing, great at research, moderately ok at design and imagery.

Claude - excellent at writing, great at research, horrible at design and imagery.

Gemini - good to great at writing, great at research, easily the best at design and imagery (due to nano-banana).

Lovable - incredible at design, imagery, websites

Gamma - great at writing, incredible at design and imagery.

Promo - moderately good at design and video creation with their AI Tools.

Figma - very good to great at design and visualizing ideas.  Not applicable for writing.

Sintra - not very good overall.

Marblism - surprisingly good at content creation and design.

There are people with far better analyses of AI out there, but I felt my view was valuable because I use these tools every day and have thought through their practical applications.  For me, they help me to do things.  They never replace me in doing things.  For example, I write a few columns: the one you're reading and my one for Mediapost, which is the primary.  I never let AI write those.  If my name is on it, I wrote it.  I will use AI to brainstorm my ideas, and once I have a concept, I will go off and write.  That’s my process, and I find it more efficient.

These tools are like Excel.  Excel sped up data analysis.  AI speeds up everything, but you still need to prompt AI in the same way you needed someone to work on Excel.  In a previous column, I wrote about how humans think in non-linear ways, which enables more creative thought.  The same goes for AI.  You only get the value out of it based on what you put into it.  It's the same thing here.

So I hope this little analysis helps you think of ways to use these tools for marketing.  Drop me a note and let me know if they helped!  I would love to hear from you.

Thanks for reading.

Cory.
